It is one of 48 constellations listed by the Roman Astromoner Ptolemy, and through it runs the Milky Way. Its brightest star, which is visible to the naked eye, is Capella, the goat which in Latin Mythology (Almathea) suckled Jupiter, the god of light and sky and called the ‘shining Father’. One day he accidently broke off one of Almathea’s horn which was then transformed into the Cornucopia or the ‘Horn of Plenty’ to be filled with whatever its owner desired. In Heraldry the Goat is the emblem of the martial man who wins victory through the employment of policy and strategic thinking.
